STATE OF DESIGN: German-born, London-trained, Kristina Brenke designed and manufactured for prominent Sydney jewellers prior to setting up her own studio. Her work is highly sculptural, yet easily worn. By allowing the manufacturing process to define the design, she balances spontaneity with sound craftsmanship.
STATE OF DESIGN: Ingrid Tufts has wanted to make things since her childhood. Her career took her down a different path, (computer programmer), but eventually she realised her dream, and is now living it.
Poets traditionally don’t allow time to impinge on their creativity. Deadline, what deadline? The words come when they come. A chance meeting or spontaneous encounter will write the next line. An act of love might inspire a particular rhythm or narrative. A chat with an old friend or unexpected argument might provide the next metaphor: he is an old sock! Or dictate the next stanza.
