When Peter Dinklage was interviewed for X-Men: Days of Future Past by Charlie Pickering for The Project, he made a comment that summed up the new lure of the tech world as it is today: ‘Nerds are like hot now.’

And they don’t come cooler than those at Sydney’s Mini Maker Faire, due to hit the Powerhouse Museum on 16 and 17 August as part of the museum’s Sydney Design 2014 exhibition. Described by London’s Guardian as ‘Glastonbury meets Tedx’, Mini Maker Faire is a DIY showcase of creativity and resourcefulness, embracing the best innovations taking place in kitchens, garages and workshops across Australia and around the world.
